For over 60 years, Silverson has been providing high shear mixers.
Unlike conventional mixers that rely solely on propellers or paddles, high shear mixers break down and disperse materials through shear,
shortening mixing time and preventing agglomerates that result in uneven mixing.
In addition, Silverson offers a wide range of models to suit your application and available workspace.
Bottom Entry Mixers
Overview
Designed to be mounted directly on the bottom or side of a tank, these mixers work in combination with slow-speed agitators or scrapers
to ensure uniform mixing, especially in high-viscosity applications.
Bottom entry mixers perform intensive homogenization with high shear, followed by uniform agitation through agitators or scrapers.
In processes such as phase inversion in silicone solutions—where viscosity increases dramatically as shear is applied during liquid addition—
this combined system proves highly effective.
These mixers are also particularly suitable for high-viscosity applications in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and food production industries.
For low-viscosity solutions or simple powder dispersion, bottom entry mixers are also used as stand-alone units.
They are ideal for applications requiring a high degree of sanitation, conforming to 3A, USDA, and cGMP standards.
Materials
The standard material for wetted parts is stainless steel 316L. Special alloys and electropolished finishes are available upon request.
Motors
Standard motors are TEFV (Totally Enclosed Fan Ventilated) or ATEX-certified explosion-proof types. Stainless steel or other motor types can be supplied on request.
Fittings
Units are normally supplied with stainless steel flanges, though smaller models can also be supplied with ferrule clamp fittings.
Seals
- Single Mechanical Seal
- Double Mechanical Seal
Carbon/ceramic/Viton® elastomers are standard, with other options available upon request.
For abrasive, sticky products or vacuum applications, double mechanical seals are recommended.
Sealant flushing systems are available as an option for these applications.
Cleaning
CIP (Clean-in-Place) design allows easy cleaning and reduced maintenance.
Pressure Rating
All standard models are rated to 40 psi (0.28 MPa). Units for higher pressure applications can be custom built.
Ultra-Clean Models
- No crevices in product contact areas
- Metal bellows shaft seals
- Electropolished finish
